WHAT'S MY AGE AGAIN?

t-shirt: sportsgirl
skirt: general pants
necklace: sportsgirl
shoes: ninewest

There is just something about this skirt that makes me feel like I'm a teenager. I cannot help but think how young I look when I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror, and then I cannot believe that I turn twenty-three in a few months. I know I'm complaining about looking young and that it seems totally ridiculous. I know.

This outfit had me thinking about dressing age appropriate all day and although I think that the idea is ridiculous and that you should dress in whatever way you feel comfortable, regardless of trends, celebrity influence, or age, I couldn't help but think about what age my wardrobe is. I graduate at the end of this year (although I'll actually be in India instead of at my graduation ceremony) and all of a sudden I'm confronted with the idea of having a 'real' job, forging a career, and respectively, dressing for adult life. Wham. Is this adulthood finally catching up with me? I can drink, I can drive, I can vote - but is my changing wardrobe going to be the thing that marks my becoming an adult?

Cue Blink 182's What's My Age Again.

Rebecca.

  3. I find myself feeling the same - I think everyone should just wear what makes them happy, regardless of their age, but then I do sometimes find myself trying specifically not to look too young (I'm 28 but I still get ID'd in the shop buying wine!). I think how you dress can show you've grown up, I get told all the time by my colleagues that my sense of style has really evolved over the past 2 or 3 years, even though I haven't really been trying to look different, I have just been buying and wearing stuff I like. Good luck with the rest of your studies and the big step out in the big wide world! x
