BON VOYAGE.

I've scheduled this post for eight this morning, around the same time I'll be checking in at the airport, and hopping onto a flight bound for India, where I'll be spending the next three months backpacking around the country with my boyfriend. We've booked a couple of nights accommodation in Dehli, but after that, we have no plans. We know roughly where we want to go and what we want to see, but we're going to just go with the flow, and discover everything we can about India. I know that it's going to be tough at times, and I'm expecting to experience some culture shock for the first few days, but I want to fully embrace India - the food, the people, the places.

As we're backpacking, we're taking very little. I actually surprised myself with how little I packed. I've packed a couple of basic pieces - t-shirts, leggings, genie pants - that I can mix and match, but plan on checking out the local markets and picking up some things when I get there. What better way to embrace Indian culture, by dressing as they do?

As for my blog, I don't know. I'm not sure when I'll have access to a computer and then internet, but when I do I'll post a quick update - where we are, what we're doing, and what we've eaten, those kind of things, and save the picture for when I'm back and have the time to write something decent to go with them. I'll be snapping away on Instagram during the trip, so you can follow me there for quick updates and lots of food pictures.

Thank-you for all of the messages of bon voyage. Thank-you for putting up with my constant #holiday #adventure #india #excited hashtags, and snaps of my countdown timer. And thank-you for reading.

Peace.

A LAZY SHIRT DRESS.

 shirt: witchery
necklace: callos and darlos

Another advantage of buying pieces a few sizes up - like this shirt from Witchery - is that they can double as a lazy shirt dress. I popped this on this morning, as the temperature is set to rise again today, and it's just so easy to wear. It's a tad sheer, but when I'm spending the day at home I think this is okay. I'll pop my asos mini underneath when I head up to my parents for dinner later tonight.

Anyway, I'll make this quick as I'm meant to be packing for my trip. One day, twenty three hours to go.

INSTAWEEK 017.

I love jelly on hot days. This beautifully packaged parcel arrived. And this is what was in it. A snap of the contents of my Australian beauty box giveaway. Outfit of the heatwave, a witchery tee, necklace, and bikini underneath. A quick snap during the day, water  bottle attached to me. A surprise from the girls at work. Counting down until I leave on my adventure. A rainy Australian summer day. Crazt stupid love. Currrently burning Dusk's Bondi candle. Bath bomb time.

I've changed the look of these Instagram posts slightly, as I feel that this way, they look a little cleaner, the pictures are a little bigger, and you can see all of them on one screen. It is hard picking which snaps to include though, as I've been snapping alot more than usual recently.

I've had another lazy week, spending most days soaking up the sun, having movie marathons, or baking macaroons. I popped into town during the week to pick up a few bits and bobs for my trip, and am counting down the days until we leave - two days and twenty three hours at the time of writing. I packed up and shipped my beauty box a la Australia to the lucky winner this week too. Keep an eye on Jayne's blog for an un-boxing and reviews of the bounty. The weekend proved that an Australian summer is not all that it's cracked up to be. It rained. It was refreshing though, after a week of high temperatures.

This might be my last Instagram post for a little while, as I'm not sure how often I'll be able to find a computer, or if I'll even be able to find one, while I'm in India. I'll still be snapping away on Instagram though, so you'll be able to see what I'm up to.

THREE DAYS, TWENTY HOURS.

 jacket: dotti
tank: staple
leggings: river island
sandals: ninewest
necklace: dallas and carlos

It actually rained yesterday, proving that the Australian summer isn't all that it's cracked up to be, and giving me the chance to wear my pleather jacket one last time before my trip. I'll be backpacking around India for three months as on this Friday - three days, twenty hours, thirty-two minutes and thirty seconds until my flight, at the time of writing - so am leaving the majority of my wardrobe behind and packing only the essentials (and lots of basics to mix and match). I'll be making the most of this pleather jacket, as well as a few other impractical-for-backpacking pieces this week before they get left behind.

ANOTHER WHITE TEE.

t-shirt: witchery
shorts: supre
sandals: river island
necklace: dallos and carlos

I already have a couple of basic white tee's in my wardrobe, but I couldn't resist this one when I saw it. I spent today running errands and hunting down those last few things for my trip, so stuck with an easy, comfortable outfit. I love the baggy on baggy of the tee and shorts. I love the grungy, effortlessly cool look. Not that I consider myself cool. At all.

INSTAWEEK 016.

Homemade tiramisu. I started my 'Line A Day' journal today. Fresh green juice. Pulling silly faces on the couch. Housemate movie night. Waiting at the doctors. Looking up. Fresh melon. Essential summer products. #SAHeatwave. Waves at the beach. Planning what to pack. Sun setting at dinner. Drinking water by the litre. Salt and pepper squid.
This year, I'm going to add a little text to these Instagram posts. To not only share a little more about me with you, but to record more about my life. I like to look back over these posts, although it is a bit cringe worthy, and remember that dinner, the heatwave, how much melon I ate that week (alot!). I've always found it hard to keep up with journal writing - I've started numerous but they've never lasted. I find it too hard to sit down everyday and write about my life and it gets a little too Adrian Mole for me liking. I figure that adding a couple of lines to these weekly posts would be a good start. I'm trusting you to make sure that I keep up with this.

I've spent almost the best part of this year (hehe, I love this little joke!) lazing around outside, soaking up the sun. We had a quick appointment at the travel doctor to finalise our vaccinations, and then picked up a stupid amount of pills we'll need for when we're in Malaria areas. I started a list of things I want to take with me too. It's only ten sleeps until we leave now. While it's so close, it doesn't feel real yet. I wonder at what point it will. I've hit the beach a couple of times this week and love it. I love the feel of sand in my toes and could spend house floating in the shallow waters, watching the sky. Ever the foodie, I had to snap the last picture of my salt and pepper squid (another thing I've grown to love recently) at dinner last night. I'd like to try re-create this at home as it's pretty much all that I ever order when we eat out.

A LAZY WEEK.

shirt: witchery
leggings: river island
shoes: ninewest
necklace: lovisa

After a very lazy week - the majority of which I spent lazing around the (paddling) pool with a magazine, soaking up the sun - I'm refreshed and ready to start afresh. Thank-you for continuing to read, like, and follow, though I have been missing in action. I appreciate every single person who reads my blog, and treasure the friendships (albeit online) I have developed in the few months I have been blogging.

This is the outfit that I wore to see in the new year. Just something easy, comfortable, and as lightweight as possible (good ol' heatwave). When I picked up this shirt in a size 14 my mum thought I was mad. I really like the look - the structured collar, the crispness of the white, and the flowing flare fit - but didn't like the idea of it as a shirt. I bought a few sizes bigger, thinking that I could wear it as an over sized shirt with leggings (I firmly believe that if leggings are worn as pants your bottom must be covered) or as a sheer dress. I love it for those times between the beach and the tram, just to slip on to cover up, but still stay cool.

And the end result of the pedicure, the colour is cocoa. A homemade gift tag. A sunset. The cutest birthday card from Grandma. Birthday pancakes. Birthday gifts from mum and dad, and the in law parents. A cheeky birthday card from my auntie. Birthday coffee. My mani matches my purse. Birthday lunch at Sushi Train with my boyfriend and housemate. A stack of plates. I broke a tap, oops. Lazy birthday afternoon. Birthday scent. Lazy leftovers. Birthday candy bracelet. Fried egg and tomatoes. Jeffery Campbell dupes from Sportsgirl. Reflection in my ray-bans. Poolside on New Years Day. Another reflection snap. January 2013 is off to an amazing lazy start.
