WHAT I WORE THIS YEAR.

That's all of them. A year's worth of outfit posts together. It's really interesting to see them all together like this, but at the same time I feel really strange looking at ninety different versions of yourself. You can see what trends I loved, the things I wore once, and the things that I wore over and over again. I rarely stray from black and white outfits, but you can see that colour does have a little place in my wardrobe. I rarely strayed from my sleek and straight locks either, but this year I did start to experiment with curls, waves, and top knots, and am loving it.

My favourite pieces were this Sportgirl faux fur gillet, and pleather jacket from Dotti, worn together. As well as this ASOS mini skirt, and basic t-shirt (sometimes worn as a dress!) in black, white, and lime green from Sportsgirl. I worn this skull print tunic a lot, and this chunky mink green knit featured quite a bit too. And together, they are one of my all time favourite outfits, especially paired with River Island's disco pant dupes, another piece that features heavily in my outfit repertoire. This outfit is another of my all time favourites, and makes me feel particulaly girly. I also love this tunic, shorts, jumper combination, and can't wait to pull this jumper out again next winter. More recently, I've loved this khaki dip hem tank, Mink Pink dress, gillet, and Witchery beach dress that I wore on my birthday. I can't wait to rock them well into 2013.

This aztec inspired necklace from Sportsgirl was my all time favourite necklace, and these I Love Billy flats my favourite shoes. I had to throw them away eventually (it was long overdue) as they simply became worn out. These military boots and chunky gladiator sandals were a close second and third.

Peace. Love. Happy New Year.

JEFFERY CAMPBELL COLTRANE DUPES.

t-shirt: sportsgirl
skirt: asos
boots: sportsgirl

I fell in love with these Sportsgirl cut out biker boots the moment I laid eyes on them, and pretty much ran back to Sportsgirl after work to buy myself a pair. They're one of many dupes of the Jeffery Campbell Coltranes popping up in stores at the moment. I was a tad hesitant to purchase shoes from Sportsgirl, as previous pairs I've had haven't being leather - cue rubbing, blisters and stinky shoes. These ones are leather, and leather lined, making them so much more pleasant to wear, even without socks, something that I would normally never ever do.

I popped them on this morning with this ASOS mini and Sportsgirl tee for a quick trip to Bunnings and can safely say that they're not going to be leaving my feet for a little while.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME.

dress: witchery
sandals: ninewest
bandeau: asos
sunglasses: rayban
purse: mimco

I bought this beach dress yesterday, after my birthday mani pedi, as a birthday treat to myself - as you do. I don't usually bother with maxi dresses as they're always too long for me and generally look unflattering. When I saw this one Witchery I had to try it on, and to my surprise (hoping with all manicured fingers and toes crossed) it wasn't too long. I love everything about it. Even the name is gorgeous. It flows out around the waist, bu tapers in at the bottom ever so slightly, giving a flattering shape, and catches even the slightest breeze - perfect for the hot weather we're expected to have this week. I generally don't like having my back and shoulders on show - I don't dislike them, but they just don't have any shape or definition - I really like the way this dress looks from the back.

I wore it today when my boyfriend, housemate and I went to Sushi Train for my birthday lunch treat, a tradition in it's third year now. And I'm now sitting on the sofa watching Gossip Girl re-runs and eating Hattie Blythe's boarding school tuckshop mix - a perfect lazy birthday afternoon. Thank-you for all of your birthday messages on Twitter and Instagram. It has been both overwhelming and flattering. Rock on!

THE LITTE SUEDE DRESS.

dress: pink stich
sandals: river island

I've had this dress lurking in my wardrobe for a little while now, but never wear it, as it never really feels right. You know that?  I love the dress, the colour is feminine, yet not too girly for me, and the cutout detail turn a relatively boring dress into something with a little more edge. But it always sat at a really weird length - slightly above my knee. Making it not quite short enough to be a mini dress, and not quite long enough to be a midi dress, and just looking unflattering and frumpy. I popped it on yesterday (I was taken for a mani pedi as a special birthday treat) and it just felt right. And it also sat a little short - perhaps I've grown a few centimetres since last year? I also find that wearing it with these chunky River Island sandals takes the girly edge off too, and makes it grundgy and edgy, which is definitely more my style.

I KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO WATCH FROM THE OUTSIDE.

t-shirt: sportsgirl
pants: river island
shoes: ninewest
necklace: bahaus

I went with a classic black and white look for work on Friday night, and threw on my biker jacket as the weather cooled down in the evening. I really like this t-shirt from Sportsgirl, as I'm sure that you're already aware. It flares out, which I find to be not only comfortable, but also flattering. It feels a little dressier than a basic tee too (which I also love, don't get me wrong). The River Island disco pant dupes are a firm favourite of mine, and have become my go-to pants. They make even the laziest of outfits feel glam.

A FAMILIAR LOVE STORY.

t-shirt: cotton on
skirt: asos
necklace: lovisa
shoes: ninewest

Like most styles, I have a love hate relationship with dipped hems. When they were first popular I thought they looked strange, and vowed that I would never wear anything with a dipped hem. But - again, as with most styles - after a little while (and a little hype) I changed my mind and decided that I did like them. I still find them really difficult to style, at times a little long (but I guess that I can expect this given that I don't have supermodel like legs), and awkward and clumsy when I trip on the hem, but there are a few - this t-shirt from Cotton On and this khaki tank - that I've fallen in love with and wear over and over again. I paired this navy t-shirt with my ASOS mini (again) and footless tights, for another day of post-christmas sales madness.

STILL STUCK.

tank: staple
skirt: asos
shoes: ninewest
necklace: sportsgirl

When I get stuck on a piece of clothing, I get really stuck, and I'm currently stuck on this khaki tank. I wore it over my favourite trusty ASOS mini skirt and footless tights (I'm a bit stuck on these too at the moment) on Boxing Day, but you can see how I've worn it here, here, and here, in the past week (see, stuck!) too.

CHRISTMAS DAY.

dress: mink pink
sandals: river island
necklace: lovisa
watch: timex

I fell in love with this Mink Pink dress the moment I saw it, and it's become my go-to dress when I don't know what to wear and all else fails. It was only natural that I threw it on on Christmas morning before rushing into the kitchen to peel potatoes and carrots and get all of the lunch preparations underway. I did not, however, put any suncream on, so am sporting trademark Australian sun burnt shoulders.

This year my boyfriend and I hosted Christmas lunch at our house. We kept things simple and rustic - homemade candle holders (recycled salsa jars and garden twine, viola!), plain red napkins, and garden twine to tie knifes and forks together. Paper cracker hats were mandatory (as it should be!), the turkey was cooked perfectly, thanks to extensive consultation from Jamie and Gordon, and mum's trifle (the once a year dessert) was delicious. It was a lovely relaxed day, followed by a lazy evening watching movies and sampling from a massive pile of chocolates and lollies.

INSTAWEEK 014.

Harry Potters 5, 6, and 7. A sneaky fry up for breakfast. An excuse to eat chocolate. Trying a hair tutorial. And success with the tutorial. A handmade (homemade) gingerbread house template, colour coded. Sunbathing with Madison and Reef. A chilli haul. And the chilli grower himself. Ready to pipe. Constructing the house. And viola.

A tad late this week. You can follow me on Instagram (my handle is @rebeccabrittle) for real time updates. Without sounding to fangirl, I always follow back. Because I'm nosey and like to see what people are up too.

YESTERDAY'S HAIR.

tank: staple
shorts: supre
shoes: ninewest
necklace: sportsgirl

My love affair with this dip hem tank continues, and I can see myself wearing this alot more in the coming weeks. I wore it with my favourite easy shorts (a gem from Supre at $12!) for a comfortable casual look. This is probably what I'll wear to the beach on Christmas Eve for our annual family fish and chips evening, weather permitting. I still have no idea what I want to wear on the bid day itself, but having everyone come to our house gives me a little extra time (between stuffing the turkey and roasting potatoes) to try on a few outfits. And then change. Twice.

KHAKI AND GOLD.

gillet: sportsgirl
tank: sportsgirl
leggings: river island
shoes: ninewest
necklace: sportsgirl

I picked up this tank, gillet, and necklace from Sportsgirl during the week, falling in love with each of the pieces as soon as I saw them. Which happens way too often in Sportsgirl for my liking, and my bank accounts liking. Cream and gold are not two colours that I wear often (do I wear cream at all?) but in lieu of my new years resolution being to just say yes, I bought the gillet and necklace anyway. My biggest reservation with cream is that I'm not really sure how to work it into my wardrobe - which is full of blacks, greys, and whites. Ditto for gold. I grabbed the tank (khaki, who wouldn't?) and the necklace on the way to the changing rooms just for fun (dangerous idea!) but ended up loving the three pieces together. The gold numbers on the tank make it easier for me to wear gold accessories (I just need a gold watch. Hint!).  I also think that the neutrals look quite nice contrasted against the black, so perhaps there is room for cream in my wardrobe.

I know it's the middle of summer and way (way!) too early for gillets and other autumnal pieces. But when have I ever dressed seasonally appropriate? Nine times out of ten I'm over, under, or inappropriately dressed. It's how I roll.
